Yangze Cruise Photos, Part 1

I’m back after an extended break from this blog. It’s been 16 years since I started publishing content here and this is the longest break I’ve taken from posting photos and stories of everyday life, but I needed this time away. I’m excited to get back into posting photos and reflecting on big and small things.

These photos were taken in November of 2018, just before I left Chengdu for a trip to the United States. I had long wanted to cruise down the Yangze, as visitors to Sichuan have done for generations, but it wasn’t until a few months ago that I had an easy way to do that. Through some arrangements, I finagled a free trip on a cruise ship, which was a 5 day trip. It was as beautiful of a trip as I hoped it would be.

China’s “Sabertooth” Street Tank

Saw this outside of the Chongqing railway station, parked among common police vehicles. It says “Sabertooth” on the side and is evidently a bullet proof APC (armored personnel carrier) built atop a Ford F550 frame. It’s a particularly militaristic member of China’s PSB (Public Security Bureau) apparatus.

More info on the vehicle here: Chinese Sabertooth APC
