At the 2003 Detroit Electronic Music Festival I was standing next to Matthew Dear (techno mastermind behind the Ghostly International techno label) watching Derrick May play to a crowd of 10,000 people. Just a day earlier I had seen him (Matthew Dear) knock out the most memorable performance of that years DEMF at an afterparty in an opera house with a giant chandelier. One of the most innovative “techno” producers in the world.

Song of the Day #20: Pasilda

Afro Medusa – Pasilda

One of the biggest house tracks to come out in the early 2000’s. I vividly remember hearing this for the first time on New Years 2000-2001 in the main room of The Edge in SE Washington DC. The Eastcoast Boogiemen dropped it while they were playing the headline set on four turntables. Of all the memories I have in clubs during those years, this was one of the most memorable.
