Niki Randa)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>After years of hopes and dreams, this summer I finally made it to the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Coachella_Valley_Music_and_Arts_Festival\">Coachella Music and Arts Festival<\/a> in Indio, California. In case you aren&#8217;t familiar with Coachella, this is the mother of all music festivals at this point in time. With hundreds of performers spread across the 3-day festival, it was difficult to figure out who to be most excited about. The event was completely star-studded with headliners like Snoop &amp; Dre (plus <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theatlantic.com\/entertainment\/archive\/2012\/04\/hologram-tupac-was-inevitable\/255990\/\">hologram 2Pac<\/a>), Radiohead, and The Black Keys. But surprisingly, it would be the acts on the second and third tier of the lineup that would really blow my mind.\u00a0Chief among those was <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Flying_Lotus\">Flying Lotus<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Flying Lotus at Coachella<\/h2>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright\" style=\"max-width:50%\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.justcharlie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/Flying-Lotus.jpg\" alt=\"Flying Lotus\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>From his first song (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=8WhUad5jEis\">Hudon Mohawke &#8211; Furnace Loop<\/a>), the vibe in the 10,000+ person tent was absolutely off the meter. And this wasn&#8217;t a mainstream dance DJ style knock-your-ears-in-with-beats performance. It was subtle, nuanced, and was filled with pauses for dramatic effect. Like Flying Lotus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He played this song, <em>Getting There<\/em>, almost 6 months before the release of his new album, <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Until_the_Quiet_Comes\">Until the Quiet Comes<\/a>. Each time I listen to it I&#8217;m reminded of the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Blade_Runner_soundtrack\">Blade Runner Soundtrack<\/a> produced by <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Vangelis\">Vangelis<\/a> which to this day remains one of my favorite albums of all time.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Flying Lotus &#8211; Getting There (feat.
