On Friday August 29th, I took the bullet train to Chongqing for what has become my annual trip to Chengdu’s sister city. This time, as with last year in Chongqing, I stayed at the Hongya Hotel which is built inside of a 2,000 year old famous cave development in the Yuzhong district of the city. As with the previous year, I visited the Shibati (???) neighborhood, also known as 18 Steps. A long-dilapidated fading memory of old Chongqing, this area is finally disappearing. As you can see from the photos below, it is mostly demolished.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
