Staying Warm Cycling in the Winter
I cycle 25 kilometers to and from my office twice a week, on Tuesdays and Thursdays. It feels incredible to exercise first thing in the morning and I notice that the ride itself is becoming easier and easier. One challenge has been the weather though, not just when it’s cold but when it’s cold and damp or drizzling outside. Usually I’ll just cycle anyway, but I got a winter cycling suit on Taobao about 6 weeks ago. Yes, it looks silly. But that never really bothered me (I had Vibram 5-Finger shoes years ago!). The bottom half looks like thick black tights and the top half is like a nylon racing jacket. It’s very thing but it keeps me incredibly, unbelievably warm. That’s all I need in the winter, along with gloves, a cap, and the Respro pollution mask that makes me look like a Scorpion from Mortal Kombat. Did I mention how good it feels to sweat outside at the end of December?
